Our Time Together
In our sessions, I welcome you just as you are. The foundation of our work together is your feeling of unconditional acceptance and complete safety. My goal is to engage the mind by asking thought-provoking questions and by providing research-based information, while tapping into the power of the body through mindfulness.
Our minds are extraordinarily effective in gathering information, solving problems, and organizing data. They are essential to navigating a complex world, and our culture reveres the skillful mind. But we often overlook the valuable contributions of our bodies. Strengthening our relationship to our bodies may allow us a deeper awareness and intuitive understanding of:
- Safety and Boundaries
- Physical pain
- Emotions
- Sensations like comfort
- Bodily Functions like sleep and eating
- Connection to others, nature, animals
- Personal Preferences
- Creativity
Through our practice together, you can develop a familiarity with your rich internal world and an understanding of how to harness the powerful resources of both your mind and body.
My Theoretical Orientation
Foundationally, I practice Hakomi therapy, which is a mindfulness-based psychotherapy. However, I’m also integrative and draw from other orientations. This can include EMDR, Internal Family Systems, somatic, cognitive behavioral, solutions-focused, or compassion-focused. As a believer in the inherent resilience of the human spirit, I always incorporate strengths-based psychology. Following neuroscience research and using experiential therapy, I often offer in-session opportunities to experience different states of being and create new neural pathways in the brain.

The present moment contains past and future. The secret of transformation is in the way we handle this very moment.
